Robbers Break Into Priest’s Apartment, Cart Away Church’s Funds In Edo


Robbers in the early hours of Sunday, February 2, broke into the house of Rev. Father Andrew Ihonda-Ovienloba of

St Andrew Catholic Church, Aruogba, Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State and carted away a huge amount money belonging to the church.

Ihonda-Ovienloba, while disclosing this during Sunday mass, said he woke up on Sunday morning and discovered the robbery.

According to the Priest, the robbers did a very neat job, which indicated that the robbers were people that are familiar with the environment.

Forty days after birth of Jesus was celebrated all over the world, robbers broke into my office and stole church’s money.

” The money they stole, is the money poor people who have one problem or another used to sow seeds and offer petitions(prayers) to God.

Automatically, the robbers have succeeded in carrying the problems and challenges of those that offered the money to God for prayers”, he said

He stressed that no one can rob a house of God or a man of God and go free.

“When you rob a house of God, you carry all the suffering and pains of the congregation.” he said

He, However, during prayers of the faithful, offered prayers for the robbers repentance.
