U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles Coach Bosso Faces Selection Dilemma

Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso is facing a tough time selecting his final squad for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Bosso has until January 25 to submit his 21-man list to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, who will then forward it to the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

The local and foreign players in camp have been fighting hard to secure a place in the squad.

Majority of the players, DAILY POST, learnt have impressed the Bosso-led technical crew, who are now having sleepless nights on coming out with a final list.

The Flying Eagles will face Zambia in a double-header friendly at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on January 27 and January 30 respectively.

The seven-time African champions will travel to Morocco for a training tour at the end of this month.

The Flying Eagles will face hosts Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal in Group A at the 2023 U-20 AFCON.

Inter Milan Give Deadline For Ademola Lookman Deal, With Transfer On Verge Of Collapse

Inter Milan president, Giuseppe Marotta, has said this week will be “crucial” if they want to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.

The Nerazurri are very keen on signing Lookman to bolster their attack this summer.

However, negotiations between the two Serie A clubs have not been progressing smoothly.

Marotta has now said in two or three days, they will try to get a deal done or move on to other transfer targets.

This week will be crucial for Lookman deal,” Marotta said.

“We are in talks for Ademola Lookman, we want him but we also respect Atalanta.

“In 2-3 days we hope to proceed and be able to get the deal done otherwise we will move on and focus on other players.”

Guardiola Speaks On Returning To Barcelona

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has ruled out any possibility of returning to Barcelona.

According to him, he has no plans to return to the Nou Camp in a professional capacity.

Guardiola came out of Barca’s famed youth system and went to make 382 appearances for the Blaugrana as a player, winning six league titles and a European Cup triumph.

He was promoted to first-team manager in 2008 and worked with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, as the LaLiga giants claimed three league crowns and a couple of Champions League triumphs.

Guardiola left in 2012 after 247 matches at the helm.

And he now emphatically ruled out a return, telling GQ: “It’s over. It’s over forever. It was very beautiful, but it’s over now.”

He added when pressed on a potential presidential post at Camp Nou: “Noooo! I’m no good at this.”

EPL: Man Utd Announce New Squad Numbers For Players [Full List]

Manchester United have announced new squad numbers for some players ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

In a post via their website on Monday, the Red Devils announced that summer signing Bryan Mbeumo will wear the no.19 jersey vacated by Raphael Varane at the club.

Man United also announced that Matheus Cunha has taken on the no.10 wore by Marcus Rashfordd who left to join Barcelona on loan.

Summer signing Diego Leon was given the no.30, while Diogo Dalot has taken the no.2 shirt vacated by Victor Lindelof.

Dalot switched from the no.20 he has held since joining United in 2018.

Christian Eriksen has already left Old Trafford and left the no.14, while Jonny Evans’s retirement means the no.35 is also currently available.

They includes; Bendito Mantato (70), Godwill Kukonki (72), Reece Munro (65), Chido Obi (32), Jack Fletcher (38), Ethan Williams (56), Tyler Fredricson (33) and Shea Lacey (61) were all confirmed in new positions.
