Published

By Timothy Omokhudu

The police in Edo State are investigating the death of a young man and the burning down of a building in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State in a cult related violence.

The deceased whose name was given as Abdulrahman Sule was alleged to have met his death in the hands of some boys who allegedly led a notorious cult leader who had earlier forcibly initiated the deceased into Ey’e cult group.

The killing reportedly provoked serial violent reactions from the locals on December 29, 2014 who reportedly mobilised and burnt down the family house of the leader of the assailants Omonekha Adams.

The violent incidents which have raised tension in the hitherto peaceful community have forced many residents to desert their homes for fear of being hurt in the face of the serial violent attacks and the likely mass arrests of innocent persons by the police.

According to the police, three persons identified as principal suspects in the twin crimes are being tracked and would be prosecuted when arrested.

The police have however urged members of the public with useful information as regards the identity of the culprits to report same at the nearest police station.

A statement signed by Abiodun Osifo (ASP), Public Relations Officer, Edo Police Command, gave no details about what led to the crisis, but investigation by Info Daily revealed that the late Abdulrahman Sule had reported how some group of cultists forcefully initiated him into their cult to his brother, Abdulraman Galib.

Angered by the utter abuse of his brother’s rights to liberty and in obvious display of the natural protective instincts in him, Abdulraman Galib reportedly went and challenged the cult leader Omonekha Adams and warned him and his gang to stir clear of his younger brother.

The cult leader, supported by his gang like all other cult groups apparently sensing that their secret had been exposed, went after Sule’s life and allegedly clubbed him to death on a pathway to the farm.

With the series of events, our correspondent gathered, it was not difficult for the angry villagers to draw conclusions on who was responsible for the death of Abdulrahman Sule, a wrong they promptly wanted to avenge by marching straight to Omonekha’s residence ostensibly to track him down.

It was gathered that before the mob could arrive at their destination, the suspect had escaped, forcing the mob to take their anger on his father’s house which they burnt down completely.

Besides the police’s quest to arrest all those connected with the murder and arson, the cult group sources, revealed, have vowed to eliminate Abdulraman Galib whose whereabouts is currently unknown by whatever means possible for leading the mob action against them.

The police have however warned trouble makers in Jattu and environs to turn a new leaf as the State Police Command would deal decisively with anyone found to be formenting trouble in the area.

Two persons have reportedly been killed in a gang fight in Ekiadolor village in the Ovia-North East local government area of the State, following a dispute that spiraled from a football game played in neighbouring Iyowa community.

The fight that started as a mere argument at Iyowa community field during a friendly match which later snowballed into a cult war with the parties targeting opponents; their houses and business interests, later claimed the life of one Osaro Agbonze and Kingsley Enabulele.

A witness who didn’t want his name mentioned explained that trouble started during the friendly match in Iyowa community when Osaro Agbonze was asked to leave the field over his unruly behaviour but he refused to obey the referee.

Outrage As Adeboye’s Son Calls RCCG Pastors ‘Goats’

Published

Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Leke Adeboye, the son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, slammed erring pastors of the church, calling them ‘goats’ for preaching their sermons after the G.O. had finished speaking and preaching.

This generated outrage on social media as many condemned the statement while some others called for his suspension.

Usually, first Sunday of every month, parishes of the RCCG are linked up with the National Headquarters of the church, where the G.O. would deliver a sermon – expected to be the only sermon of the day. Meanwhile, some parish pastors often do a follow-up preaching after the G.O’s.

Reacting to such a move, Pastor Leke took to his Instagram account and referred to the RCCG pastors who preached their messages after the G.O. had preached his sermon as ‘goats’.

Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy G.O. had just finished speaking and preaching.

“You are not a son, you are a goat, sir. Next Thanksgiving Service, just do an altar call, then thanksgiving,” Leke posted.

Tweeps bemoaned this statement, called it rude and others demanded his suspension by the RCCG.

“#rccg should suspend Leke Adeboye for calling ordained pastors #GOAT. What a gut,” @ollynetworker said.

“That’s very rude of you, Leke Adeboye! You are the goat here,” @Joanna8214 tweeted.

@TomisinAmokeoja said, “Two wrongs don’t make a right, Leke Adeboye calling pastors goat was way overboard. Really leaves much to be desired. Always been controversial though. I wonder how he would have reacted if he was the G.O.”

A tweep, @CeciliaOkoroma, said that such a statement was not nice and unexpected from a man of God.

”This is simply not too nice a statement from ‘man of God’ and in particular, son of G.O RCCG,” she tweeted.
